It’s time for the Friday Music Shuffle, where my musical device chooses 10 tracks from my collection in random order and I tell you what they are. And if you feel like singing along, then just click the song title!
Let’s rock!
- From Hank to Hendrix by Neil Young. From 1992’s Harvest Moon, if you listen closely you can hear James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt on backing vocals.
- Drift Away by Jon Kay. A lovely track from 1973’s My Sportin’ Life, a great album by the Steppenwolf lead singer.
- Someday We’ll Be Together by Diana Ross and the Supremes. Motown classic.
- I Feel For You by Prince. The original 1979 version performed by the writer and later covered by Chaka Khan.
- Sad Pariah by Zervas and Pepper. Nice folk rock from the Cardiff duo, taken from their 2019 album Endless Road Restless Nomad.
- Valleri by The Monkees. From 1968’s The Birds, The Bees and The Monkees, this was also a successful single and quite right too.
- River of Brakelights by Julian Casablancas. The Strokes man from his brilliant 2009 solo album Phrazes For The Young.
- Wishing I Was There by Natalie Imbruglia. Despite the absurd Kylie-style American accent, our Nat can really sing.
- John Cooper Clarke by Working Men’s Club. From their outstanding eponymous album of 2020, this is fantastic. Almost New Order for the 21st century.
- Saturn Return by R.E.M. How I miss R.E.M., particularly when I hear tracks like this from 2001’s Reveal.
That’s all, folks!
