That Friday Music Shuffle (3.5.19)

by Rick Johansen

I don’t know if you will be able to stand the excitement, though I suspect you will be able to, but I have to inform you that it’s time for the Friday Music Shuffle. That’s the time when I set my iTune collection free to choose a random mix of my music. Then, I tell you about it and you wonder why.

So, I am back in my Man Cave, preparing for a night out at the rugby union (of all things), and until then, here are ten random tunes.

Welcome my friends to the show that never ends.

  1. Curved Air by David Crosby. Now in his late seventies, Crosby has been more prolific than at any other time of his life. This is from his brilliant 2017 Sky Trails album.
  2. Stolen Flaming Heart by Xaos. From the epic 2015 album Xaos, which is all about modern Greece. Simply stunning.
  3. Right About Now (Gaudino & Jenna Mix) by Mousse T & Emma Lanford. Some classic House, here.
  4. Glass by Julian Casablancas. From the Strokes’ lead singer’s excellent solo effort Phrazes for the Young record, this is absolutely mint.
  5. You + Me by Public Service Broadcasting. Every Valley is such a great and at times deeply emotional album, reflecting as it does on the death of the Welsh coal industry. Lovely.
  6. Long Time Gone by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Great live version of the Crosby classic which CSN still play today.
  7. Man On A Mission by Hall and Oates. Superb blue eyed soul from their Do It For Love LP.
  8. Mexican Fender by Weezer. Unmistakably, Rivers and the boys and it’s great.
  9. St Jimmy by Green Day. Frantic rocker from the excellent American Idiot album.
  10. Love Me Right (Oh Sheila) by Angel City feat. Lara McAllen. Old school lady 1990s dance music.

That’s all folks!
