The first team exited the Bosley Cup in a 6-2 home defeat at the hands of Avonmouth.
Meanwhile, the A team played Bristol Spartak at Whitchurch, drawing 3-3 but then losing 4-2 on penalties.
The reserves travelled to Knowle West to play Broad Plain.
Lardy student Nigel was called up from the As to run the line as the away team battled in appalling conditions and an even worse pitch.
The village went a goal down in the first half but levelled through young Ben.
Chopper Moron and 12 year old Fraser Venables both played well, as did the elderly…er…experienced pairing of Longy and Airsy.
Nigel came on with 30 minutes to go and the village gradually got on top despite this. Master Venables forced the keeper into a fine save and Aaron ‘I never pass’ Jones hit the metalwork from 20 yards.
Airsy, defying his 60 years, managed a run down the right near the end and hit a perfect cross for Ian Simple to nod in to make it 2-1 and that’s how it stayed.
Man of the match – Stoke Gifford’s exciting number 5 shirt.
