I know what you were thinking: we’ve gotten away with it this week. He’s been on the golf course for much of the day. He’ll be too tired to present a music shuffle. Wrong!!!
So, here it is. 10 tunes from my collection chosen at random by my portable device. And if you want to play along, click on the title and sing along!
Let’s rock!
- Physical Attraction by Madonna. We start with the original squeaky-voiced Madge from her 1987 album You Can Dance. However, the song was recorded four years before the album was released. Good, mind.
- See No Evil by Television. Coincidentally, my golfing partner of today rates Marquee Moon as the best album of all time. Arguable, perhaps, but it is Great with a big G.
- Let It Go Pt 1 by KC and the Sunshine Band. Not one of Howie Casey’s best known songs but it is, as always, excellent.
- Kilroy Was Here by The Move. Little known belter from Roy Wood’s band, this one from 1968.
- Your Gold Teeth II by Steely Dan. The Dan are of course the greatest band of all time and this is from the mighty Katy Lied. Buy this record. Denny Dias’s guitar work is insane.
- Be My Guest by Working Men’s Club. From one of 2020’s albums of the year, Working Men’s Club, this is magnificent.
- Devil’s Tower by Toto. Quite unexpectedly, Toto released a new album in 2018, Old Is New, and it made me very happy. Recorded between 1977 and 2017.
- Tender Is The Neck by Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. Brilliant from 2017’s Talk Tight. If you like jangly guitars, you need this.
- The New Soft Shoe by Gram Parsons. Gorgeous country music from the late, great Gram from his 1973 long player GP.
- Blanket For A Sail by Harry Nilsson. A lovely bit of whimsy from the desperately talented Harry.
Now that’s what I call eclectic.
That’s all, folks!
