The Friday Music Shuffle (8.4.22)

by Rick Johansen

Would you Adam and Eve it? It’s Friday already, I think. And it’s time for the Friday music shuffle.

10 songs chosen from my collection and I tell you what they are. By all means sing along by clicking on the title.

So, let’s rock!

  1. Who’ll Stop The Rain by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Classic John Fogerty tune from 1970’s Cosmo’s Factory.
  2. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham!. Although I’m not a fan of George Michael’s solo stuff, I adored Wham! And this is a great pop song.
  3. Puesta Del Sol by Lenny Ibizarre. I know nothing about the artist but this is a lush tune from one of my Chilled Ibiza compilations.
  4. Stop Stop Stop by The Hollies. Back to 1966 for this one which features Graham Nash, who co-wrote it, but doesn’t appear in the video.
  5. Uneventful Days by Beck. Brilliant, from 2019’s Hyperspace.
  6. The Battle of the Beaconsfield Miners by Foo Fighters. From 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, the only Foos album I have. A lovely acoustic instrumental and a fine tribute to those who died.
  7. I Wanna Be Free by The Monkees. Nice bit of slush from the boys’s 1966 debut album, The Monkees.
  8. Things I Miss The Most by Steely Dan. So cool from my favourite band of all time, from their final album, 2003’s Everything Must Go.
  9. My Kinda Girl by Chickenfoot. Sammy Hagar’s supergroup with a tune from their eponymous debut album from 2009.
  10. Sandpaper Blues by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. Superb stuff from Strummer’s 1999 (!) debut album Rock Art and the X-Ray Style.

I think that’s quite a shuffle, but I would say that, wouldn’t I?

That’s all, folks!
