I’ve just seen this on twitter, on the Ukraine Defence Ministry official page:
‘Russia is abducting Ukrainian children en masse. Thousands of orphans from the occupied territories are being illegally “evacuated” to Russia. The State Duma is speeding up a bill on a “simplified” procedure for their “adoption” by Russian families.’
As the old saying goes, ‘The first casualty of war is truth’ so I suppose we should tread carefully with anything we read. And living in the UK where the prime minister Boris Johnson is arguably the biggest liar in history we should know that. But having seen what seem to be credible reports from trusted journalists, I’m happy to believe that what Ukraine has said is true. Assuming it is, this is what Hitler did:
In case you now have any doubts, we are now dealing with Nazis. Vladimir Putin is behaving just like Adolf Hitler. One of the main differences is that we haven’t declared war against the enemy. As I have argued elsewhere, isn’t it about time we did?
Just today, Russia launched a rocket attack on Kramatorsk train station, killing at least 39 people, with 87 injured. At that station, people were fleeing war, evacuating to safe havens. But don’t worry: it wasn’t Russia who did it. The attacks didn’t happen, it was “a provocation” and “absolutely untrue”. So, Ukraine must have attacked its own people, as you do. I don’t think so.
History will not look kindly upon Putin’s Russia but unless we pull our fingers out, it won’t look too kindly on us, either.
