Time for a Friday Music Shuffle. 10 tunes played at random by my music system and I tell you what they are. And if you want to play along, then click on the song title!
Without further ado, let’s rock!
- Flake by Jameszoo. Lush experimental jazz from the brilliant Brainfeeder label
- All Of My Life by Diana Ross. Epic Motown.
- Cut Right Through by Cicada. Some old skool house, here.
- Live It Up by Sheryl Crow. The divine Ms Crow from her 2005 Wildflower album.
- Hey Joe by the Marmalade. An unlikely cover of the Jimi Hendrix cover using the exact same Hendrix arrangement. Not bad, as long as you don’t compare it with Jimi’s version. Fun fact: Marmalade’s bass player Graham Knight used to live in this area and drank in my local.
- Insomnia by Faithless. Christ on a bicycle: classic house from…er…1995. Who can’t love a song with the line, “Makin’ mad love to my girl on the heath. Tearin’ off tights with my teeth.” Well, who hasn’t?
- All I Want To Do by the Beach Boys. From their 1969 album, 20/20, this is a rock and roll song written by Dennis Wilson and somewhat shouted by Mike Love.
- Jeannie Needs A Shooter by Warren Zevon. Co-written by Bruce Springsteen. this is a live track from Zevon’s 1980 LP Stand In The Fire
- They All Ask’d For You by the Meters. Joyous. Just click the title!
- Sunshine Of Your Love by Cream Vs, Hoskins. Bewildering mash-up of 1960s rock and 21st century house.
That’s all, folks!
