Good grief: is it Friday already? It surely is. So, what else to do on Friday but to have the weekly music shuffle?
I’d like to think I have a reasonably eclectic music collection so what you get here is ten tracks, chosen at random by my music machine (phone) and if you want to hear the tune or even sing along, then just click on the title. It’s THAT exciting.
So, without further ado, let’s rock!
- Connected To life by Teenage Fanclub. Typically brilliant song by the Scots lads, from 2016’s Here.
- Sunday by Nick Drake. Back to 1971, the best year for music, for this lovely instrumental from Nick Drake’s Bryter Layter album. So tragic that he died three years later, aged 26.
- Meet Me On The Corner by Lindisfarne. 1971 again for the opening track from their classic album Fog On The Tyne.
- Run Away From It All by Blackberry Smoke. Proper rock and roll music from their 2018 long player Find A Light. Great band.
- Passing Ghosts by Lindisfarne. Wow! Another great track from Fog On The Tyne. Alan Hull was a genius.
- Ghosthunting by B.C Camplight. This comes from one of the best albums of 2020, Shortly After Takeoff. It’s truly wonderful.
- Somebody Got Murdered by The Clash. From the band’s magnificent 1980 triple album Sandinista. Essential.
- Fortune by Midlake. From the band’s beautiful and brilliant 2010 album The Courage Of Others.
- Safe From Harm by Massive Attack. If you haven’t got 1991’s Blue Lines, then why not? Just amazing.
- Only When I Sleep by The Corrs. We return to 1997 and a track from Talk On Corners, which I don’t have, but I do have the greatest hits LP.
This week’s Desert Island Disc is Safe From Harm by Massive Attack.
Hope you enjoyed the tunes.
That’s all, folks!
