And why not? Here, my musical device selects 10 tunes from my collection and plays them at random and for no obvious reason I tell you what they are. Why not play along and click the song titles as we go?
Let’s rock!
- It’s A Good Thing by Field Music. From their Commontime LP this is mint. Seeing them soon, Cracking band.
- The Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners by Foo Fighters. An acoustic instrumental from 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace. You’d never know it was them.
- Girl In Collision by Chris Rainbow. The late, great Mr Rainbow with a lush tune from 1979’s White Trails. Little known fact: Rainbow had a stammer which disappeared when he sang.
- Goodbye by Elton John. The last track on 1971’s Madman Across The Water, which remains Elton’s best album, coming out in rock’s greatest year.
- I Gotsta Get Paid by ZZ Top. Great track from 2012’s La Futura, a stunning return to form for the band.
- Beauty In Your Eyes by Deep Forest. From their 2002 album Music Detected, this is basically a dance tune with added voices from the rainforests of Africa.
- Something About Mary by Wyclef Jean. From the Fugee man’s 2000 album The Ecleftic, which is great by the way, this is also great.
- Savior by Red Hot Chili Peppers. From Californication, this is ace.
- Go To The Road by Public Service Broadcasting. The band’s 2017 album Every Valley, which was about the demise of the Welsh mining industry, was in my opinion, their best to date. Here’s why.
- Son Of A Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield. The best blue eyed female soul singer of them all, with this beauty from 1968.
That’s all, folks!
