The Christmas Day Music Shuffle (25.12.20)

by Rick Johansen

It’s not just any old Friday, is it? It’s only bleeding Christmas Day on a Friday, innit? So, it’s time for my music machine to churn out ten random tunes and I tell you what they are and – if you really want to – by clicking on the song title, you can listen to the bugger and all.

So, here it is etc. Let’s rock!

  1. Bad, Bad Leroy Brown by Frank Sinatra. Excellent cover of the Jim Croce classic.
  2. I Can Dream About You by Hall and Oates. From their brilliant Our Kind Of Soul album from 2004, this is a cover of the excellent Dan Harman tune.
  3. Sun It Rises by Fleet Foxes. The opening track on their 2008 debut album, Fleet Foxes. Perfect winter music.
  4. Things Goin’ On by Lynyrd Skynyrd. First track side two of their unbeatable 1973 debut album Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd.
  5. I Should Be So Lucky by Kylie Minogue. Yes, I really do own this tune. Classic.
  6. Street Spirit (Fade Out) by Radiohead. From the mighty The Bends LP and of course it’s perfect.
  7. 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon. Genius.
  8. Drive My car by the Beatles. From Rubber Soul, 1965. 55 years ago. Still incredible.
  9. Bones by Radiohead. Yes, another great song from The Bends.
  10. Goodnight Ladies by Lou Reed. Last track from 1972’s brilliant Transformer album. A nice way to end this shuffle

Merry Christmas Everybody!
