Having woken up yesterday at 5.15am with a new and continuous cough, I woke up much later today without one. I mean, the cough is still there but now it’s more of an irritating tickle. My nose is only slightly bunged up and my voice appears to have dropped half an octave, but the aching and tingly skin has gone. I feel like I am running a bit of a temperature but that could be down to the fact that I am sitting next to a hot radiator in my man cave. Conclusion: so far so good.
At the very back of my mind are the stories of others who felt they were getting better, only to go downhill quickly and end up in hospital and, sadly, worse. But it really is only at the very back of my mind and not something I regularly think or worry about. And the main reason I am upbeat about my prospects is the vaccine.
I’m triple-jabbed and the science, which I don’t completely understand but actual scientists do, suggests that this could be as bad as it gets and if that’s the case then all well and good.
There are two people to whom I am very grateful and neither of them are Al ‘You can call me Boris’ Johnson. First, the government’s chief scientific advisor Sir Patrick Vallance who put the Covid task force together and second Kate Bingham who ran it. Contrary to the embarrassing bullshit coming from Johnson-supporting sycophants, he did not make “the right call” on vaccines: actual experts did. And anyway, I am not going to thank a lying toad like Johnson whose disastrous handling Covid has seen tens of thousands of people die unnecessarily.
Finally, in my restful periods I am not watching Mrs Brown’s Boys or listening to the ‘music’ of Queen, Muse or Meat Loaf, which means I have not lost my sense of taste. That’s surely the best news of all?
