You cheap lousy faggot

Comments Off on You cheap lousy faggot 07 December 2018

The state of this country is revealed in its most miserable and depressing state thanks a non story in the Sun ‘newspaper’. One man has lost his shit about the use of the word ‘faggot’ in the Christmas song ‘Fairytale of New York’. He’s angry and thinks it should be banned because he thinks the word ‘faggot’ refers to homosexuality. But it doesn’t. In Ireland, it means ‘lazy person’. If one man has lost his shit about the use of a single word, the rest of cyberspace has lost its shit even more.

It’s ‘PC gone mad’. The man is a ‘snowflake’. ‘No one is telling me what I can and cannot sing’. And so on. And on. And on. Pages upon pages of confected anger. Christ, do people have nothing serious to worry about?

For one thing, this has nothing to do with ‘political correctness’ which – and I’ll say it yet again – DOES NOT EXIST. Political correctness is what people complain about when their racism, homophobia, xenophobia and misogyny is challenged.

Anyway, back to the point. ¬†Fairytale of New York is not going to be banned. It’s a powerful little made-up story about ChristmasYou cheap. When people say it’s one of the great Christmas songs, who am I to contradict them? I’ve heard it too many times to be objective because I have now reached the point where I dislike almost every bloody Christmas song to the point where I look forward to Boxing Day! But if you think it’s a classic then I am happy with that.

The faux fury is absolutely pathetic with people reacting as if the government has banned the bloody song. No they haven’t. It’s not an issue. So don’t pretend it is.
