It’s time to show off.
In no particular order:
Steely Dan (Donald Fagen, Walter Becker, Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter, Denny Dias, Jim Hodder, Jeff Percaro, Royce Jones, Michael McDonald) at the stage door of the Bristol Hippodrome in May 1974. I still have a signed programme by all of them as they went to the chip shop across the road on Denmark St after the show.
Sammy Hagar, Ronnie Montrose backstage after they supported Status Quo at the Bristol Colston Hall. Lovely blokes, they signed by Montrose flyer for their first album.
Brian Wilson three times now backstage at the Bristol Colston Hall. I don’t think he remembered me.
James Dean Bradfield and Ray Davies at the Royal Festival Hall for the Brian Wilson Pet Sounds show. Bradfield was sitting behind us and Davies was in the bar at the interval. Both signed my ticket.
Tommy Johnston, Pat Simmonds and John McFee of the Doobie Brothers at the Bristol Colston Hall backstage after their gig a couple of years ago.
Joe Vitale, legendary drummer and great friend, who met us at the Hammersmith Apollo and later at the London Royal Albert Hall in 2011 on CSN tours where he introduced us to……
Graham Nash and Stephen Stills backstage. We had already met Graham at the Hammersmith Apollo. We love Joe Vitale and a record collection is not complete without Roller Coaster Weekend, Plantation Harbour and Speaking In Drums. Joe’s Backstage Pass autobiography is a wonderful read too.
Roy Wood after a Wizzard show at the Bristol Locarno.
Paul Barrere, Fred Tackett, Kenny Gradney and Bill Payne of Little Feat in Falmouth at their gig in – at a guess – 2011. Met Paul and Fred at the Colston Hall a year after (or was it before?).
Captain Sensible of The Damned in a Devon Pub about 20 years ago.
Failed to meet Mark Owen of Take That when he played a gig at the O2 in Bristol and Gary Glitter after he played the Colston Hall in about 1972. Good fail!
I think there may be more…….
