The things I do for you, my loyal reader, eh? Not only do I tell you the ten random tunes my musical device churns out every Friday, I have gone to enormous lengths to enable you to listen to them by clicking on the song title. (This doesn’t work with the first song!) For some of you, this might not be a blessing, but for others, who knows?
So, without further ado, let’s rock!
- So You Are A Star by the Wondermints. The Wonderful World of the Wondermints is arguably one of the great covers albums of this time and this little gem is a cover of a 1974 song by the Hudson Brothers (no, nor me).
- Rock Candy by Montrose. Montrose’s self-titled first album is, in my view, the greatest rock album in history. Classic Sammy Hagar.
- Reverence by Faithless. The unmistakeable tones of Maxi Jazz (not his real name, believe it or not) in this 1995 belter.
- Dear Chicago by Ryan Adams. So lovely, from Ryan’s Demolition album.
- Radio by David Crosby. From his great 2014 album Croz, we are so lucky to still get new music from this absolute legend.
- Higher Ground by Stevie Wonder. Nuff said.
- When God Made Me by Neil Young. Piano based number, with hints of gospel, from 2005’s Prairie Wind.
- Truckin’ by Bread. Truckin’, obviously down the highway, from David Gates and the chaps, bearing no resemblance to the band’s major hits.
- Strutter by Kiss. Kiss have a very thin back catalogue in terms of quality, but this rocker is excellent.
- Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan. Great tune, even better video.
That’s all, folks!
