The late Friday Music Shuffle (16.12.22)

by Rick Johansen

Evening all and welcome to the late Friday Music Shuffle. It’s late due to foreseen circumstances so apologies for that, but better late than never, eh?

Anyway, here come 10 tunes chosen from my collection by my musical device. Click on the title to listen and better still sing along.

Let’s get it on. Let’s rock!

  1. Rule The World by Take That. Back to 2006 for this belter from TT, featuring my mate Ben Mark Weaver on guitar, who’s in the video!
  2. Rhinocratic Oaths by The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. The genius and madness of the Bonzos from 1968.
  3. Holes In The Wall by Electric Soft Parade. Title track from the 2002 album which should have propelled the Brighton boys to superstardom.
  4. Heart Of Gold by Neil Young. I was very slow on the uptake with Neil Young until I heard Harvest. I soon got up to speed.
  5. Marooned by Pink Floyd. Classic Floyd, innit?
  6. She Bangs The Drums by The Stone Roses. World class music from…er…1989.
  7. Mardy Bum by Arctic Monkeys. From 2006’s Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not. Never any filler, just killer from the Sheffield lads.
  8. Again Here by Largo. Ten minutes of sheer beauty. Turn the lights down low, spark up a…no wait…pour a glass of red.
  9. Build Upon It by Michael McDonald. The king of blue eye soul from his stellar 2000 album Blue Obsession.
  10. Jeremy’s Glory by Jason And The Scorchers. Great track from Jason and the band’s best album, 1998’s Clear Impetuous Morning

It’s flip a coin time with this week’s Desert Island Disc. I’m going with the exciting number 8 tune, Again Here by Largo.

Hope you enjoyed it.

That’s all, folks!
