Did you honestly think my temporary absence from the UK would spare you the weekly music shuffle? Then think again. Live, all the way from Lanzarote, when I really should be lying in the sun, I’m giving you some music.
Ten songs, selected at random by my music machine, and I tell you what they are. And if you want to sing along, then just click on the title!
Let’s rock!
- You Know How We Do it by Fun Lovin’ Criminals. From 2018’s Another Mimosa, here’s Huey on top form.
- Reese by Big Red Machine. If you put a bit of Bon Iver together with a bit of the National, you can’t go wrong. 2021’s How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? is brilliant.
- The Hula Hula Boys by Warren Zevon. The much missed genius, from 1982.
- Fairweather Friends by Queens Of The Stone Age. Josh Homme and the chaps from 2013’s Like Clockwork.
- Listen by The Wondermints. Released in 2002, the Mints Mind If We Make Love To You is truly lush. As is this track.
- The One I Love by R.E.M. Now we are talking greatness, from 1987’s Document.
- Waiting For Today To Happen by the Lightning Seeds. Back to 1986 for a typically fine Seeds tune.
- Existing by The Electric Soft Parade. I will never understand how Brighton’s ESP never made it. Great band.
- Canadian Railroad Trilogy by Gordon Lightfoot. Believe it or not, Lightfoot was on of my first musical loves. And I still love his stuff. From 1967.
- Changes by The Zombies. And finally, the mighty Zombies from another century from their classic Odessey and Oracle long player (and that was the spelling used).
This week’s Desert Island Disc is Reese by Big Red Machine.
That’s all, folks!
