The Friday Music Shuffle (6.11.20)

by Rick Johansen

I can only imagine how my weekly music shuffle helped get you through the last lockdown. What do you mean, it didn’t? Anyway, he’s another one. Ten tunes, chosen at random by my music machine, and I’ll tell you what they are. And if you are sad enough, you can click on the song title and listen to it.

So, let’s rock!

  1. Mist on a Monday Morning by the Move. Astonishing track from the Move’s 1968 album the Move. This is folky and almost baroque and unmistakably Roy Wood!
  2. Wildflower by Sheryl Crow. Title track of Sheryl’s 2005 long player, Wildflower! What a voice.
  3. Time in Joy by Field Music. Proggy track from the Mackems’ excellent 2016 record Open Here.
  4. Waterfalls Coming Out Your Mouth by Glass Animals. From one of the finest albums of 2020, Dreamland, this is lush.
  5. Lost In The Flood by Bruce Springsteen. Vintage Bruce from Greetings from Asbury Park, released around 200 years ago (1973, actually).
  6. Somewhere North of Nashville by Buce Springsteen. And now fast forward to 2019 and a track from Western Stars. Still great after all these years.
  7. Pressure Makes Me Lazy by the Bees. The best band ever to come from the Isle of Wight, this is from Every Step’s A Yes.
  8. Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadows by the Rolling Stones. Vintage Mick and the boys.
  9. Barber’s Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten Mix) by William Orbit. Some high quality Trance here.
  10. Dreamin’ Man by Neil Young.  From 1992’s Harvest Moon. Lovely.

That’s all, folks!
