Good day and welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle, where my musical device chooses 10 tracks at random from my collection and I tell you what they are. If you want to join in with the ‘fun’, just click on the title!
Let’s rock!
- Two Can Play by The Beach Boys. A remastered track from the 2019 Feel Flows record which failed to make it to their Sunflower album of 1970. Nice.
- The Best Of Everything by Frank Sinatra. Ol’ Blue Eyes from 1984, with the Quincy Jones Orchestra.
- Thinking Of A Place by The War On Drugs. Brilliant, from 2017’s A Deeper Understanding. 11 gorgeous minutes.
- Total Destruction To Your Mind by The Isley Brothers and Santana. What a wonderful combination from 2017’s collaboration Power of Peace.
- Once In A Blue moon by Nat King Cole. Here, the great man plays some great piano but doesn’t sing. Still mint, mind.
- Take Control by Weezer. Classic Weezer from 2002’s excellent Maladroit long player.
- The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy. I tried and failed to persuade Bristol Rovers to make their their run out tune when we returned to Bristol following exile at Bath and again when the crowds returned after Covid. Shame!
- Unsolved Mysteries by Animal Collective. From 2007’s bonkers Strawberry Jam record, I so love these guys and can’t wait to see them later this year.
- New England by Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers. Back to 1976 for this absolute belter.
- Barbara Ann by The Beach Boys. This is the Master Take without the party stuff added and remastered in 2001. Not a fan of the Beach Boys stuff at this time, but most folk know it!
That’s all, folks!
