To celebrate the 31st anniversary of when I left Briz (the Brislington area of Bristol), it’s time for a special Friday Music Shuffle, which will be exactly the same as the previous ones. Ten tunes from my collection, chosen at random by my telephone device and I tell you what they are. Play along, why don’t you, by clicking on the song title?
Without further ado, let’s rock!
- A.A.A.A. by Working Men’s Club. Brilliant New Order-style electronic rock from 2020.
- Little Of Your Time by Maroon 5. Probably not a fashionable thing to admit but I really like Maroon 5.
- Cars In Space by Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. Brilliant from 2020’s Sideways to Italy album. Near the top of my bucket list to see.
- I Want you Back Again by The Zombies. From 2015’s surprisingly strong Still Got That Hunger album, always good to hear the voice of Colin Blunstone.
- I Feel The Earth Move by Carole King. 1971, as I never fail to point out, was the best ever year for music. This, from Tapestry, pretty well proves my point.
- All For Self by the Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Very excellent track from 1998’s 100% Columbian.
- Love Said (Let’s Go) by 77:78. Two of the Isle of Wight’s brilliant Bees, this is from 2018’s Jellies. Class.
- Endless Bummer by Weezer. Rivers and the chaps on top form from their untitled 2016 album.
- El Condor Pasa (If I Could) by Simon and Garfunkel. Well over 50 years old, Bridge Over Troubled Water remains an incredible album. And this is one reason why.
- Almost Gothic by Steely Dan. Cool, sophisticated, genius, from 2000’s Two Against Nature.
That’s all, folks!
