The Friday Music Shuffle (3.1.20)

by Rick Johansen

If you thought my Friday music shuffle might come to an end as 2019 slipped out of sight, you will be very disappointed to read this. It’s time to set my music system free to play ten tunes at random from my collection and I’ll tell you what they are. Dull? Of course, it is.

So, let’s rock!

  1. Baloney Again by Mark Knopfler. From the Dire Straits frontman’s Sailing to Philadelphia long player, it’s wonderful, of course.
  2. She Loves Me She Loves Me Not by the Saw Doctors. Poppy little number from County Galway’s finest.
  3. More Than This by Roxy Music. Proper gem from Bryan Ferry’s great band.
  4. Mutiny by Pendulum. From the excellent In Silico album, here we see the Aussie drum and bass band on tip top form.
  5. Dollar Days by David Bowie. From his magnificent final album Blackstar. Sheer, unadulterated genius.
  6. Quiero Desintegrar A Tu Novio by Los Amigos Invisibles. From their brilliant 1998 album, The New Sound of the Venezuelan Gozadera, here are Venezualan’s finest.
  7. Chasing After Deer by Midlake. Seriously great band and this is from their The Trials of Van Occupanther. Essential.
  8. I Can’t Wait by Stevie Nicks. Not Stevie’s finest moment, I’m afraid. Surprised it made it to her otherwise very good album Crystal Visions.
  9. Ambush in the Shadows by Carasel feat. Juiceman and Shaydz Soprano. Some cracking hip hop, here.
  10. I Am Yours by Derek and the Dominos. Co-written by old Slowhand and Nizami Ganjavi, 12th-century Persian Sunni Muslim poet (it says here). It’s lush, anyway.

That’s all, folks!
