It’s Friday 27 September 2019 and here we are in the village as winter really kicks in. Outside, it’s cold and rainy but inside the sun is shining because I am about to unleash my portable telephone upon you and allow it to play ten tunes from my music collection entirely at random. That, you see, if why I call this thing the Friday Music Shuffle.
So no more waffle. Let’s rock!
Let It Down by George Harrison. What a lovely start with a lush song from George’s first and best solo album All Things Must Pass. The last time I ever saw my dad in 2009, he was playing this. So, it means an awful lot to me.
Nothing At All by Santana. From the old boy’s excellent 2002 Shaman album, this one was co-written by the wonderful Rob Thomas and sung by Musiq.
The Space Travelers Lullaby by Kamasi Washington. This fella’s Heaven and Earth record from 2018 is indispensable. Genius.
Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas. I absolutely love Kansas, although I do realise this is the only song of theirs that anyone else has heard of.
Cry (The Show Doroorie Song) by the Marmalade. One of my favourite compilation albums is Fine Cuts by the Marmalade. So many great songs on it, including this one.
AKA…What A Life by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. I’m in the small minority who much prefer Noel’s solo stuff to anything he did in Oasis, this being a personal favourite. Still a crap lyricist but a fine tunesmith.
Past by Todd Rundgren. Ever changing, always brilliant; a great track from his Liars album.
Desintation Calabria by Alex Gaudino feat Crystal Waters. Old school House, here.
Find The River by REM. It’s from Automatic for the People. Need I say more?
Living On The Streets by Fun Loving’ Criminals. From their classic Welcome to Poppy’s, this is classic Huey and chums.
