If it wasn’t bad enough having to read this blog, you should know it’s the last music shuffle this summer. The next one will be in the autumn.
Anyway, here goes. 10 songs from my collection, chosen at random by my device, I tell you what they are and you can sing a long by clicking on the title.
Without further ado, let’s rock!
- It’s Summer by The Temptations. Ironic, after what I just said about it being the last music shuffle of the summer. Anyway, as the boys point out: it’s summer. Just.
- Ecuador (Javi Mula & Joan Reyes Remix) · Sash! featuring Rodriguez. Very Old Skool dance music!
- Everybody Needs You by Laura Veirs. Lush tune from 2018’s The Lookout.
- Crying In the Chapel by Jim James. Cover of a tune made famous by Elvis from the My Morning Jacket man’s Tribute To 2 album.
- You’ll Be Mine (Party Time) by Gloria Estefan. Great summer music from our Glor.
- Parakeet by R.E.M. Lovely track from 1998’s underrated Up record.
- Sloop John B by The Beach Boys. On the face of it an odd pick for Brian Wilson’s masterpiece Pet Sounds, but it totally works.
- Mambo Chimbo by Los Amigos Invisibles. From their 2002 album The Venezuelan Zinga Son, Vol. 1, this is too, too good.
- Roll With It by Steve Winwood. Proof that class is permanent and it’s a million times better than the song of the same name by a certain Mancunian band who were named after a swimming complex in Swindon.
- You Made Me Love You by Harry Nilsson. From his gorgeous album A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the night, this is a song made famous by Al Jolson in *checks notes* 1913.
Hope you enjoyed it. That’s all for this summer, folks!
