Good afternoon and welcome to this week’s music shuffle. It’s where my music device selects ten songs from my collection entirely at random and I tell you what they are. And if you want to listen to the songs and even sing along, then just click on the title.
So, let’s rock!
- Blind Willie McTell by Chrissie Hynde. Really good cover of this Dylan tune.
- Sun In The Morning by St Etienne. Gorgeous, from 2005’s Tales From Turnpike House.
- Cradling Mother, Cradling Woman by Fleet Foxes. More magnificence from Robin Pecknold’s band, this from 2020’s Shore.
- Somebody Like Me by St Vincent. St Vincent is essentially the desperately talented Annie Clark. This lovely track comes from her 2021 album Daddy’s Home.
- Tangled Up In Blue by Bob Dylan. His Royal Bobness with a classic from the 1975’s sublime Blood On The Tracks.
- Rock & Roll Fantasy by Bad Company. Back to 1979 with a track from their album Desolation Angels. Paul Rodgers on top form, as ever.
- Some Other Time by The Alan Parsons Project. And back even further, to 1977, with this classic prog rock from Mr Parsons.
- Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs. And back even further again, now to 1962 for a song that everyone knows. Great band.
- The Nearest Faraway Place by The Beach Boys. Sticking with the oldies theme, this is from their 1969 record 20/20. Incredibly, an instrumental written by Bruce Johnston.
- Written On The Sky by Max Richter. Some beautiful piano music to end with.
Lovely. This week’s Desert Island Disc is Bob Dylan’s Tangled Up in Blue.
That’s all, folks!
