Welcome my friends to the show that never ends. Yes, it’s the Friday Music Shuffle where my musical device plays 10 tunes at random and I tell you what they are. And, if you want to sing along, then just click on the song title.
Anyway, no time to lose. Let’s rock!
- Beyond Here Lies Nothin’ by Bob Dylan. Excellent tune from His Royal Bobness’s 2009 long player Together Through Life.
- Kick Me Down by Jason and the Scorchers. Country-tinged rock and roll from Mr Ringenberg and his great band. This is on their essential 1998 record Clear Impetuous Morning.
- Love Like A Sunset Part 1 by Phoenix. The English speaking French indie band from 2009’s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. This is nothing like their usual stuff, until the last minute and a bit.
- Immigrant by Nitin Sawhney. This is beautiful. Have a listen. His new album arrived in my house about half an hour ago.
- Time To Get Ill by the Beastie Boys. If you don’t own Licensed to Ill, why not?
- Everything Connected by Jon Hopkins. From Jon’s brilliant 2018 electronica album Singularity.
- DUI by Thundercat. Great tune from Stephen ‘Thundercat’ Bruner’s exceptional 2017 album Drunk.
- Firehouse by Kiss. I always found their early records somewhat underproduced, like this song from their 1974 album, Kiss. For all that, I don’t think they ever got near this standard again.
- Blacker by Ballistic Brothers. Old skool electronica from a different century.
- With A Little Help From My Friends by the Beatles. It’s from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, innit? Genius.
That’s all, folks!
