Hard to believe that there are only (insert figure because I can’t be bothered to) more music shuffles until Christmas. But however many it is, I suspect it will always be too many for my loyal reader.
Anyway, it’s time for THAT music shuffle, where my musical device selects at random 10 tunes from my collection and I tell you what they are. If that’s not fun enough, you can sing along simply by clicking on the song title. Does life get any better? (Of course it bloody does.)
So, without further ado let’s rock!
- The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness by The National. From 2017’s album Boxer, this is a great tune. I particularly love the guitar riff and solo.
- Sam’s Town by The Killers. Peak Killers from their eponymous album of 2006.
- The Wake-Up Bomb by R.E.M. A belter from 1996’s New Adventures In Hi-Fi.
- Dreams by Joe Walsh. Gorgeous song from the great man’s 1973 album The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get.
- Back In The USA by Linda Ronstadt. Fantastic cover of Chuck Berry’s classic by the (misogyny alert) beautiful Ms Ronstadt.
- Talkin’ All That Jazz by Stetsonic. Call it jazz rap, call it hip hop, call it what you like. This from 1998 is brilliant.
- Simple Pages by Weezer. You know what you’re gonna get from Weezer – big guitars and a tidy tune. This, from 2001’s Green album, has both.
- She’s Not There by The Zombies. From 1965, the mighty Zombies. And we’re seeing them again in 2022. Still a great band.
- Maneater by Boy Kill Boy. A cover of a Nelly Furtado tune, not the Hall and Oates tune. Not bad.
- U Remind Me by Usher. Vintage R&B (2001) by Usher Raymond IV.
That’s all, folks!
