As the nights start to close in before winter arrives, it’s time to play some more music. 10 songs, chosen at random by my musical device from my collection and I tell you what they are. And if you want to play along, just click on the title. Hope you enjoy them.
Let’s rock!
- Bodhisattva by Steely Dan. Sheer genius from 1973’s Countdown To Ecstacy. Still my favourite band ever.
- The Lifting by R.E.M. Great track from 2001’s brilliant Reveal.
- Magic Every Moment by Dan Fogelberg. From 1993’s River Of Souls, here’s a jolly wee ditty, with added steel drums, from the late, great Mr Fogelberg.
- Spiral Into The Sea by North Atlantic Explorers. You need to own 2014’s My Father Was A Sailor. It’s about Glenn D’Cruze’s dad, but it’s about mine, too.
- Send To Robin Immediately by Robyn. Cracking electropop from Sweden’s finest and her 2018 long player Honey.
- He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother by Neil Diamond. Neil’s cover of the tune made famous by the Hollies. It’s pretty good, too, as is everything on his greatest album ever, 1970’s Taproot Manuscript.
- Paper Sun by Traffic. Classic written and sung by the great Steve Winwood. 1967. Wow.
- Vital Signs by Rush. Epic rocker from 2011’s Time Machine: Live in Cleveland. (I wrote Clevedon at first.)
- New York, New York by Ryan Adams. The first track on 2001’s Gold. It’s a great song, brilliantly performed but please click on the video because it was filmed four days before 9/11.
- Hope by Jack Johnson. Sweet, double-tracked reggae style music from the boy from Hawaii, from 2008’s Sleep Through The Static.
I think that’s a tidy mix.
That’s all, folks!
