Greetings, pop-pickers! It’s time for the weekly music shuffle, where my music machine chooses 10 random tunes from my collection and I tell you what the tunes are. But the fun doesn’t stop there. If you want to sing along, then why not click on the song-title?
Without further ado, let’s rock!
- Sound Your Funky Horn by K.C And The Sunshine Band. A belter from Mr Casey, taking us back to 1974.
- Going Up The Country by Canned Heat. And even further back with this one, to 1968. Tune, mind.
- Portra 400 by Arlo Parks. Lovely, from Arlo’s 2021 debut record Collapsed in Sunbeams.
- The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight by R.E.M. Automatic For The People came out, incredibly, in 1992. The music still stands up today as it did 30 – 30! – years ago.
- Babs and Babs by Daryl Hall. Produced by King Crimson axeman Robert Fripp, this is from Daryl’s 1980 long player Sacred Songs.
- A Good Day by Timothy B Schmit. From 2008’s Expando record, there’s more than a trace of Dylan’s You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere in this one from the Eagles man.
- The Journey by Boston. From 1978’s Don’t Look Back album, this is a nice little instrumental.
- Dream On by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. I prefer almost all of Noel’s solo work to his Oasis stuff. The tunes are better but the lyrics are still gobbledegook.
- Let Me Down Easy by Blackberry Smoke feat. Amanda Shires. Some lush countryfied music and a lovely video, especially if you are a sexist old pig who finds Ms Shires very easy on the eye, as I do.
- Virtual World by The Rides. Brilliant from Stephen Stills’ supergroup, from 2016’s Pierced Arrow.
Well, I enjoyed that. My Desert Island Disc this week is the exciting number 10 song, Virtual World by The Rides.
That’s all, folks!
