Welcome to autumn for this week’s music shuffle. 10c, blowing a hoolie and pissing with rain. Still, who needs sunshine when you’ve got music?
So, 10 tunes, chosen at random from my collection by my portable device and I tell you what they were. Click on the song title if you want to play along!
- Tell Me by DJ NG Feat. Katy B and MC Versatile. Some lush House from back in the day.
- What Is Life by Black Uhuru. All the way from Kingston, Jamaica comes this little gem, first released in 1984.
- Near Wild Heaven by REM. Absolute beauty from Out Of Time, unusually featuring Mike Mills on lead vocals.
- Anisina by Pink Floyd. This is from 2014’s The Endless River and it’s rather nice.
- Fanny Be Tender With My Love by the Bee Gees. Nearly 46 years old this tune and it’s absolutely lovely. Can’t beat a bit of Fanny.
- Somebody’s Baby by Jackson Browne. Because it’s by Jackson Browne, it’s obviously great and of course this is great. Obviously.
- 1974 by Ryan Adams. From 2003’s excellent Rock n Roll album.
- Wanda by Shack. Arguably, the most underrated British band of all time, Mick Head is a genius. There I’ve said it.
- Lion In A Coma by Animal Collective. I realise that Animal Collective are not everyone’s cup of tea but I love them. This is from Merriweather Post Pavilion.
- Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow by the Monkees. Written by Neil Diamond – so many great songs were – this features Davy Jones on lead vocal.
That’s all, folks. Winter starts next week!
