Still my favourite day of the week, the end of the working week, even if I’m now unemployed/unemployable. And it’s that time when my musical device chooses 10 songs from my collection and I tell you what they are.
If that’s not enough, you can literally click on the title of each song and sing along.
Let’s rock!
- Give It Away by Deepest Blue. The follow up to Deepest Blue, which was broadly speaking the same song, encouraged me to buy the 2004 album Late September. Big mistake. The singles were the only decent tracks.
- Archilles by Antena. This is from a Balearic Beach sessions album I bought a few years ago. I had no idea this beaut first came out in 1982.
- My Little Red Book by Manfred Mann. Incredibly, this song was written by Bacharach and David for the 1965 movie ‘What’s New Pussycat?’ I love it.
- Restless by JX. Cracking Trance from…gulp…2003.
- Cotton Fields by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Old classic recorded by CCR for their 1969 long player Willy and the Poor Boys.
- Let There Be Rock (Live) by AC/DC. Absolute belter from 1978 with, IMHO, THE AC/DC lead singer Bon Scott.
- James by MGMT. From 2018’s brilliant Little Dark Age, allow this swishing electronica to wash all over you.
- I Can’t See Nobody by The Bee Gees. Originally the B side of New York Mining Disaster in 1967, here’s a live version from the boy’s 1997 live album One Night Only.
- Theme From A Summer Place by Percy Faith. One of the greatest instrumentals of all time. Recorded in 1959. Get me to that beach.
- 4 Better or 4 worse by Pharcyde. Excellent old skool hip hop from back in the day.
Proper eclectic, right?
See you next time!
