The Friday Music Shuffle 2.10.20

by Rick Johansen

Afternoon all and welcome to my Man Cave. It’s time to spin some imaginary discs on my music centre (phone) in random order and tell you what is playing. I’ll bet you can stand the excitement!

Let’s rock!

  1. Cause A Rockslide by Badly Drawn Boy. Manchester’s impossibly talented Damon Gough with a lovely tune from his 2000 debut album The Hour of Bewilderbeast
  2. Lay All Your Love On Me by Abba. Perfectly crafted pop music from the Swedish foursome.
  3. Sleeping Jiva by Kula Shaker. From their 1996 album K, this lush instrumental features Wajahat Kahn on sarod, whatever that is.
  4. Night of Fear by the Move. The band’s first single in 1968. Great song from Roy Wood.
  5. Fountain of Sorrow by Jackson Browne. Oh, that lovely voice. This is from 1974’s stellar Late for the Sky long player.
  6. The Angelic Welcome of Mr Jones by Foster the People. Sounds like a beautiful Beach Boys outtake, but it isn’t. Such a great band.
  7. Haven’t We Lost Enough by Crosby, Stills and Nash. A classic Stephen Stills tune.
  8. Beat Goes On by the Internet. How to describe this? R&B, funk, hip hop? How about just brilliant?
  9. Looking Through The Eyes of Love by Gene Pitney. Lush.
  10. Sound Your Funky Horn by KC and the Sunshine Band. My God they made some amazing music, nothing better than this.

That’s all, folks!
