The Friday Music Shuffle (19.11.21)

by Rick Johansen

Welcome my friends to the show that never ends. Today, my musical device will select and play 10 songs from my collection. I’ll then tell you what the songs are and if you want to sing along, just click on the title!

Let’s rock!

  1. Bloom At Night by LUMP. Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay’s little project goes to its second album Animal. And it’s brilliant.
  2. This Whole World by Brian Wilson. This isn’t the version that came up on the shuffle, which was a live take from Brian’s 2000 album Live At The Roxy, but from earlier studio album. It’s a cover of the Beach Boys’ original from 1970s Sunflower record.
  3. Testament 1 by Chubby Chunks. Classic dance music from…gulps…1993.
  4. Mental Cabaret by Polyphonic Spree. Bonkers and wonderful from 2013’s The Fragile Army.
  5. I Dunno by The Georgia Satellites. Some southern (states of the USA) rock from 1989. The band were a bit hit or miss but this is definitely hit.
  6. Miss U Less, See You More by Faithless. A dance belter from 2004.
  7. Cold Dark World by Weezer. From 2008’s The Red Album, here the band are back on top form.
  8. To Love Somebody by The Bee Gees. Timeless classic from their 1997 live album One Night Only.
  9. Cold Water Music by Aim. Some dreamy trip hop from 1999, which I first heard in Ibiza in 2003. It’s gorgeous. You may know it without knowing the title.
  10. She Takes Her Clothes Off by The Stereophonics. From 1999’s Performance and Cocktails, this is Kelly Jones at his rasping best.

That’s all, folks!
