Not that today feels any different from any other day of the week, but having checked my newspaper I know for sure that it’s Friday. In which case, I allow my musical device to play ten songs at random and I tell you what random chose.
So, here, from the bowels of my Man Cave, it’s time to rock and roll.
Reality Check by the Wondermints. From a jolly collection of out takes and rarities from the wonderful Wondermints, called Kaleidoscopin’ – Exploring Prisms of the Past. Highly reminiscent of Brian Wilson’s Guess I’m Dumb and not unlike Elvis Costello.
Train of Fools by John Fogerty. The Creedence man with a tune from his Wrote A Song For Everyone long player.
I’d Rather Be The Devil (live) by John Martyn. Bonus track from the great man’s remastered Solid Air LP.
Too High by Stevie Wonder. Genius from Inner Visions.
Unfinished Sympathy by Maxence Cyrin. Classical piano version of the Massive Attack classic.
Lifetimes by Sheryl Crow. The divine Ms Crow from her Wildflower album.
DUI by Thundercat. From his brilliant 2017 album, Drunk.
Can’t Believe by Deepest Blue. Lush electronic music from their 2004 record Late September.
No Quarter (live) by Led Zeppelin. From The Song Remains the Same, over 12 wonderful minutes of it.
Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. A Bobby Hatfield solo performance, really, and the only version of this song which matters.
