Sunshine greetings from South Gloucestershire where you join me for my hugely popular Friday Music Shuffle. (Is this right? – ed.) Ten songs selected by my musical device from my music collection and I tell you what they are. And if you want to play/sing along, then just click on the song title!
Let’s rock!
- Curls by Girls. Some gentle indie rock from the 2009 album from Girls, who aren’t girls. Sadly, you can’t click on this bugger to play along.
- In Remembrance Of Those Fallen by Sons of Kemet. Brilliant summer jazz from the Sons’ 2021 album Black To The Future.
- And You And I by Yes. The classic yes line up of Anderson, Squire, Wakeman, Bruford and Howe at their magnificent best. From 1972’s Close To The Edge.
- Music Is The Light by the Avalanches Feat.Kelly Moran and Cornelius. From the best album of 2020, the amazing We Will Always Love You.
- Wanderlust by Mark Knopfler. The Dire Straits man in tip top form with this delicious cut from 2000’s Sailing To Philadelphia.
- I Got The Fire by Montrose. From their second, not anywhere near as good as their first, album Paper Money, here we find Sammy Hagar and the chaps on fairly decent form.
- Tourist by Julian Casablancas. Cracker from the Strokes’ lead singer’s solo album Phrazes for the Young which came out a ridiculous 12 years ago.
- My Sin by Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Huey and the chaps from 2001’s excellent Loco.
- Help Me Rhonda (Live) by the Beach Boys. This is not the one from my shuffle but a live version introduced by Andy Williams. Not a fan of the song, I’m afraid. Sorry, Brian.
- Vega-tables by the Beach Boys. Definitely nearer my type of Beach Boys, with this bonkers but lovely song from Smile! And those harmonies. Lush.
That’s all, folks!
