Ha! You thought you were going to get away with it, didn’t you? Just because I was in Cardiff, trawling the record shops, you thought there’d be no shuffle this week, but here it is. 10 songs from my collection, chosen at random not by me but by my portable device, and I tell you what they are. And if you want a Friday night singalong, then just click on the song title.
Now, let’s rock!
- Lady Bird by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra. Back to the sixties we go for this marvellous duet by the wonderful odd couple of music.
- Higher Ground by Stevie Wonder. Back to this classic from 1973’s Innervisions. Stevie plays every instrument on this song.
- Does Your Mother Know by Abba. A rare Abba tune with the lead vocal sung by a man, in this instance Bjorn. I liked the blonde one in the band. Benny wasn’t it?
- Ten Eleven by Terry Hall and Mushtaq. The Special and the Fun-Da-Mental men from 2003’s The Hour of Two Lights. This song co-written by one D Albarn.
- Within You Without You by The Beatles. George Harrison’s genius here, from Sgt Pepper.
- Human by Human League. What an awesome body of work Mr Oakey has produced over the years. Awesome.
- Burn Baby Burn by Ash. Back to 2001 we go for this great track from Free All Angels.
- Susan’s House by Eels. Absolute banging classic.
- Soldiers Of Peace by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Lovely track from 1988’s American Dream album.
- All I Want by J D Souther. Truly gorgeous from 1984’s Home By Dawn.
That’s all, folks!
