I doubt that you can contain your excitement, what with it being Friday and – if that wasn’t enough – the thought of me unveiling 10 random songs, chosen by my portable telephone. But here it is.
I have slipped out of the scorching Croatian sun for a short while and onto our patio which will act, for today only, as my Man Cave.
So, let’s go. 10 tunes, starting with:
Take A Look Around by the James Gang. Early, but still quite brilliant Joe Walsh from his James Gang days.
No More Lonely Nights by Paul McCartney. From his mixed, but occasionally excellent Give My Regards to Broad Street project. Love it.
Baby I Need Your Lovin’ by Michael McDonald. The greatest blue eye of them all with a cracker from his Motown 2 album.
Pretty Vacant by the Sex Pistols. Not the greatest band of all time but one of the most important.
Sometime World by Wishbone Ash. Old style prog rock from the Wishbone chaps from their Argus record.
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A man after midnight) by Abba. This from their rather excellent Live at Wembley album from 1978.
Neanderthal Man by Hotlegs. This is where 10cc came from. Classic.
Meadows by Joe Walsh. Live belter from Joe’s You Can’t Argue With a Sick Mind album.
The Show Goes on by Bruce Hornsby and the Range. Unmistakably Mr Hornsby from his brilliant Scenes from the Southside album.
Signed, Sealed Delivered I’m Yours by Stevie Wonder. Legend.
