That Friday Music Shuffle (8.5.20) VE day special

by Rick Johansen

It’s time for the Friday music shuffle where my portable music device (phone) self-selects ten pieces of music and I tell you what they are. And if that wasn’t enough, it’s a VE day special.

So, let’s rock!

  1. What They Do by the Roots. Quality hip hop from the Illadelph Halflife album.
  2. Heroes and Villains (Live) by the Beach Boys. Quality live version of the ‘Smile’ classic from the excellent Endless Harmony album.
  3. Time After Time by REM. From the 1987 album Reckoning, of course it’s great.
  4. One Eyed Jack by Rick Derringer. This excellent rocker is from Derringer’s Live At The Whisky A Go Go record.
  5. Dooms Night (Timos Mass Remix) by Azzido Da Bass. Old school house from back in the day.
  6. The Signs by Matt Berry. Prog rock/folk by the actor/comedian/musician from his 2013 Kill The Walk album.
  7. Tale of Wells Fargo by Lawrence Welk. Christ along knows what this is. It’s on a 50s/60s TV theme I have so am guessing it’s from a Wells Fargo show. It’s rather nice, mind.
  8. Hold Me by Weezer. Their fifth album, produced by Rick Rubin. Brilliant.
  9. O Lucky Man by Montrose. From the post Sammy Hagar version of the band, here they cover this Alan Price song from the O Lucky Man movie soundtrack.
  10. Sailing by Christopher Cross. ‘Well, it’s not far down to paradise. At least it’s not for me.’ Perfect.

That’s all, folks!
