It’s Friday and time for the weekly music shuffle. Ten tunes from my collection, chosen at random by my musical device, and I tell you what they are. And if you fancy singing along, just click on the title and listen to it.
Let’s rock!
- Sunnyroad by Emiliana Torrini. Love little acoustic number for starters. The video is really sweet.
- The Wrong Child by REM. Greatness from the Green album.
- Epitaph by Badly Drawn Boy. From The Hour of the Bewilderbeast long player, a reminder of Damon Gough’s immense talent.
- He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother by the Hollies. One of the greatest songs of all time and definitely lead singer Allan Clarke’s finest moment.
- Heysátan by Sigur Rós. Last track of their Takk album. So lovely.
- Otherside by Red Hot Chili Peppers. The unmistakable sound of the Chili Peppers from the Californication record.
- Lazy Moon by Harry Nilsson. Everyone should own a copy of 1973’s A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night. Here’s why.
- When You’re Smiling and Astride Me by Father John Misty. Beautiful, from his I Love You, Honeybear album.
- The Mingulay Boat Song by Fisherman’s Friends. Lush old song from the Port Isaac sea shanty men.
- The House Of The Rising Sun by the Animals. An all time classic, much loved because of the great vocal by Eric Burdon, the keyboards of Alan Price and the guitar work of Hilton Valentine who died just last week.
That’s all, folks!
