That Friday Music Shuffle (4.10.19)

by Rick Johansen

As the sounds of the city disappear, I can hear music, sweet, sweet music. Yes, it’s that time of the week already, that time when I set my portable telephone free and allow it to play ten tunes at random from my music collection. I’ll bet you can wait for this! Let’s rock!

  1. Stray Bullet by the Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Classic Huey and pals from Welcome to Poppy’s.
  2. C Moon by Wings. Hard to believe the man who wrote Hey Jude and Yesterday also wrote this piece of throwaway faux reggae fluff.
  3. M+M’s by Blink 182. Slightly frantic but great fun tune from the California rockers.
  4. Yuki Song (Remix) by Deep Forest featuring Beverly Jo Scott. Some lovely chilled world music from the French twosome plus guests.
  5. Premonition (Live) by John Fogerty. The ex Creedence man on solo top form.
  6. Born In The USA by Bruce Springsteen. Nothing to add. Greatness personified.
  7. Sunshine of Your Love (Dub Mix) by Cream vs Hoxtons. An astonishingly brilliant House remix of the Cream classic.
  8. Call It What You Want by Foster the People. From their record Foster the People, a great tune from one of my very favourite bands.
  9. You Caught Me Smiling’ by Sly and the Family Stone. Great pyscho funk rom Sly’s classic There’s A Riot Going’ On, arguably one of the best records of all time and certainly his best.
  10. Miss DJ by Hall and Oates. From their LP Do It For Love, high class blue eye from the dynamic duo.

That’s all, folks!
