Welcome to a hot and sunny England for this week’s music shuffle. Ten songs, chosen at random by my musical device and I tell you what they are. And if you want to sing along, just click on the song title.
Without further ado, let’s rock!
- Not Enough Love In The World by Don Henley. The Eagle flies solo in this track from 1984’s Building The Perfect Beast.
- Papa Don’t Preach by Madonna. From Madge’s quite magnificent True Blue long player.
- The Space Travelers Lullaby by Kamasi Washington. To call Washington a jazz musician is like saying Lennon and McCartney wrote a few songs. This, from 2018’s Heaven and Earth, is just incredible.
- Goodbye by Dwight Twilley. Great track from 1999’s career defining Tulsa.
- I Can’t Help Myself by The Four Tops. Well, it’s Levi Stubbs, innit?
- Just A Fool by Jim James. Excellent from the My Morning Jacket main man with a track from his solo LP Uniform Distortion.
- Day Or Night by Little Feat (live). Generally acknowledged as one of the great live albums by anyone, Waiting For Columbus is essential for any rock fan. Listen to this and hear why.
- Voulez Vous by Philip Michael, Christine Baranski,Julie Walters and Stellan Skårsgard. Yes, it’s from the soundtrack of Mamma Mia. I think it’s great.
- Isn’t It A Pity by George Harrison. From the ex Beatle’s classic triple album All Things Must Pass. All killer, no filler.
- You Don’t Have To Go by The War On Drugs. Maybe my funeral song, not that it matters because I’ll be too dead to hear it.
That’s all, folks!
