That Friday Music Shuffle (14.8.20)

by Rick Johansen

If your life wasn’t already exciting enough, then I can only imagine how exciting it will be after this week’s fun-packed music shuffle. Yes, it’s here again. Ten songs chosen by my music device at random and I tell you what they are.

So, let’s go!

  1. If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next by the Manic Street Preachers. As good as music gets.
  2. Universe Unfolding by Oversoul ft Gram’ma Funk. I have no idea about the musicians who made this, but it’s a great chill out song. You Tube it and I’m sure you will agree.
  3. Turn On Your Radio by Harry Nilsson. Harry from his 1972 long player Son of Schmilsson and of course it’s gorgeous.
  4. Via Veneto by Phoenix. The French Indie band from 2017’s Ti Amo record. They should be massive.
  5. Bad Boy by Miami Sound Machine. Before the band was renamed Gloria Estefan, they churned out some absolute stonking singles (not they didn’t after. Great pop music).
  6. Long As I Can See The Light by John Fogerty and My Morning Jacket. Creedence classic performed by the great J C Fogerty and the excellent My Morning Jacket from J C’s album Wrote A Song For Everyone.
  7. Australia by the Manic Street Preachers. Well, here they are again. Any why not?
  8. Country House by Blur. Not Damon’s finest hour but still several light years ahead of the other lot in the phoney Battle of the Brits.
  9. Down In The Tube Station At Midnight by The Jam. One of Weller’s greatest.
  10. Harmony Constant by Michael Nesmith. From his album And The Hits Just Keep on Comin’, the former Monkee is in top countrified form.

That’s all, folks!
