Just four months left of winter, then, as I enter my Man Cave for this week’s random music shuffle. Yes, my portable telephone, which includes almost all my music, will now select 10 tunes at random and I shall tell you what they are. Life does get more exciting than that, doesn’t it?
Anyway, here goes. Let’s rock!
Love Unlimited by Fun Loving’ Criminals. Upbeat rehash of their brilliant Love Unlimited tune from their 2019 Another Mimosa long player. Gotta love Huey.
Holding On by Procul Harum. From 1991’s Prodigal Stranger, Gary Brooker proves, as if he ever needed to, what a wonderful singer he is. Also features the great Robin Trower on guitar.
Guilty of the Crime by the Eagles. To all intents and purposes, this is Joe Walsh with a high quality backing band (the Eagles). From their final album, the patchy but occasionally brilliant Long Road Out Of Eden.
Where’s the Party? (Dub) by Madonna. From her excellent You Can Dance record, here comes Madge.
36 Inches by Nick Lowe. The criminally underrated and seriously talented Mr Lowe from his Jesus of Cool long player.
Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Neil Young. Perfect.
Natural Light by the Drive-By Truckers. Great song by the US country rockers from their English Oceans album.
Living in America by Dan Hartman. The original and, IMHO, best version of the song made famous by James Brown.
Black Sky by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Some southern country rock from the band who had one hit single, the great Jackie Blue.
The Spider by Weezer. Melancholy from Rivers and the boys. Slightly bonkers lyrics but strangely moving for all that.
