The end of another trip around the sun and why not commiserate (there is nothing to celebrate apart from just about still being here) with yet another random iPod shuffle from deep in the heart of my Man Cave.
So, welcome my friends to the show that never ends. Let’s rock!
1. Us and Them by Pink Floyd. As well as being a great tune, it’s a powerful statement about the futility of war.
2. Never Forget by Take That. A live version of this top TT tune from the Greatest Day live record. I do like Howard. #manlove
3. Here Today by the Beach Boys. Mike Love on top form in this gem from the BBs finest record Pet Sounds.
4. 2+1=Nothing by Jason and the Scorchers. From the truly great Clear Impetuous Morning long player, here is Mr Ringenberg at his best.
5. North Country Boy by Lindisfarne. From my favourite Lindisfarne record, Roll On Ruby, this one features Ray Jackson on lead vocals.
6. Where Has All The Love Gone? by Sheryl Crow. A good question from our Sheryl, what with Trump and Brexit and all the other shit that’s going on in the world.
7. Saved by the Bell by the Bee Gees. A reminder from the early days as to why Barry Gibb was usually given lead vocal duties to save us from Robin’s nasal warblings.
8. After the Dance by Hall and Oates. From the excellent Our Kind of Soul record, some good blue eye here.
9. Open Your Eyes by the Doobie Brothers. Sounding far more like Michael McDonald than the Doobies, primarily because the world’s top blue eye pretty well turned them into his backing band, albeit a stellar one.
10. Cold Desert by the Kings of Leon. From 2008’s Only By the Night, a far better album than you’d expect it to be from one of the few bands to release their poorer songs as singles.
That’s all, folks!
