Take the money and run

by Rick Johansen

To end the week, just a few words to add about the main reason I shall not be voting Labour for the foreseeable future. His name is Jeremy Corbyn. It is not just his support for Theresa May’s hard Brexit, his support for IRA murderers, citing the likes of Hezbollah and Hamas as his friends or a lifetime of disloyalty to the party he sadly now leads. Today, he reminded us what a liar he is.

Corbyn appeared on the Marr show today and was reminded how he accepted a significant sum of money working for Iran’s Press TV, believed to be circa £20,000. Corbyn actively supports the fundamentalist muslim state, commending their “tolerance and acceptance of other faiths, traditions and ethnic groupings in Iran.” Somehow, Corbyn forgot to mention the thousands of homosexuals who have been executed, often in public, or the journalists who are persecuted and locked up. Strange bedfellows, eh? An old fashioned Marxist and fundamentalist muslims who share one thing in common: they hate the west, in particular America (and this was the pre Trump America). As a soggy liberal (small L) I would never take money from a country like Iran on a matter of principle. Corbyn was not too bothered.

Anyway, Corbyn said his regular appearances on Press TV ended following the Green Resistance Movement, which arose when protesters demanded the removal of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad from office following a crooked election. Good old Jezza. Once again, the voice of sound principle. Except that the Green Resistance happened three years before he finished trousering cash from the Mad Mullahs of Iran. So he has been caught lying. But there’s more.

Alex Wickham on twitter said this: “Corbyn told Marr that on “all of those occasions” he went on Press TV, “I made my voice very clear about human rights abuses” in Iran. If Jez fans can help me find a single example would be grateful… or else he’s told three straight lies in this interview. Mr Wickham does a great public service pointing this out because it is very important indeed. Corbyn says that on “all of these occasions”, meaning every time he went on air, presumably, he made his “voice very clear about human rights abuses”. Fair enough, but now we need clear, absolute proof that he really did make his voice very clear. We need to see the videos of Corbyn making his voice very clear because otherwise it appears he is simply taking a lot of money from a bunch of hardline muslims who get their kicks from killing gays and locking up journalists. Corbyn has so much to gain from coming clean. Let’s hope his cult following join in the fun to see the name of their man bolstered still further by his brave opposition to religious fanatics and nut cases. I expect to see nothing of the kind.

Time for a reminder, here. Jeremy Corbyn and his comrades do not represent a “new kind of politics”. Theirs is the politics of the 1970s and 1980s, reheated Bennism and nothing more. Corbyn has been found out yet again. How much longer will his fan club excuse him his past because his past is no different from his present?
