Not a Music Shuffle

by Rick Johansen

This is not a shuffle. This is me playing songs that I love.

This has been a shit Saturday, more so for my lovely partner who has been laid up with a dreadful, virulent virus all day than for me. So I have gone to my Man Cave to play a bunch of songs that I love.

So here they are.

  1. Stella by Here We Go Magic. One of my favourite tunes ever by a seriously underrated band.
  2. Visibility Zero by Kansas. Top, top prog rock.
  3. I Wanna Be Famous Like My Dad by Vaughan Thomas. My most played 45 ever and almost the story of my life.
  4. High Hopes by Frank Sinatra. My favourite ever Francis Albert Sinatra tune and such fun.
  5. Rush Hour by Jane Wiedlin. A classic pop tune from the most talented Go Go.
  6. Rhythm of the Night by Debarge. Accept no other version. Perfect.
  7. A Summer Place by Percy Faith. THE best summer song of all time. Nothing comes close.
  8. Marquee Moon by Television. Title track of a truly great album. Over 10 minutes long and all.
  9. Radancer by the Marmalade. Always loved Dean Ford and the boys but they went to another level when Hughie Nicholson joined and pop married rock and gave us this.
  10. Swing Your Daddy by Jim Gilstrap. Jim only had one great tune but what a tune from Stevie Wonder’s one-time sideman and the man who sang the opening lines of You Are The Sunshine of my Life.

I feel better now.
