I threatened to do this. And now, here it is. I’ve spent a lifetime of compiling my top threes, fives, tens; top anythings, really. I’ve decided to share some with you, my loyal reader. To start with, here are my top three songs by The Police. But why The Police? Because for me, it’s an easy one. They made some great songs
- Wrapped Around Your Finger. I give you a live version from the band’s reunion tour in 2007/08, where the camera stays on the brilliant Stewart Copeland. Don’t you just love his golfing gloves? My best Police song by a million miles. From their final album Synchronicity, released in 1983.
- King Of Pain. Also from Synchronicity, squeezed between Every Breath You Take and my number one song, there’s this one.
- Invisible Sun. From 1981’s Ghost In The Machine, this is about a light at the end of the tunnel. “You can’t always see it,” said Sting, “but there has to be something radiating light into our lives.” Incredible lyrics, brilliant video.
That’s my top three. What’s yours?
