My Top Three Bacharach and David songs

How sad to learn that the world has lost Burt Bacharach at the age of 94. Along with his co-songwriter pal Hal David, he wrote some of the greatest music ever. It would be foolish in the extreme to choose my top three songs of theirs when there are so many, so that’s why I am doing it. Here, in order, are my Top Three Bacharach/David songs. The third choice changes now and then, but the top two never do.

1. I’ll Never Fall In Love Again by Bobbie Gentry. The definitive version of this great song, far better even than Dionne Warwick’s effort.
2. This Guy’s In Love With You by Herb Alpert. Not noted for his singing, Mr Alpert absolutely nails this classic.
3. I Say A Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin. It’s the Queen of Soul, innit?
