I don’t feel great this morning. It could be as a result of highly enjoyable evening spent in Bristol’s excellent New Bristol Brewery and the Phoenix public house, but I suspect it may have something to do a trip to my local health centre yesterday morning. Actually, I was supposed to be there at 10.30am but despite having an open diary less than 12 inches from my eyes, I forgot and turned up full of apologies a mere two and a half hours late. No matter. “We can see you now.” Fair play. And they saw me then, or now as it was yesterday. I was having my booster jabs.
Rather than put both my Covid and Flu jabs in one arm, the Covid one went in my left arm, the flu one in my right. By late afternoon, both arms and shoulders were aching and, without going into excessive detail I was forced to make a number of urgent visits to the rest room for rests. This morning, I feel like I have a bit of Covid and a bit of flu, both of which I do have and I don’t feel at my normal Sunday morning best.
I have to say that the NHS is still incredible at some things. In recent weeks, I have had a number of blood and urine tests (no taking the piss jokes, please) and on one magical occasion I got the blood test result back the same day, after being told it would take around a week. And yesterday, everything went like clockwork, other than my late arrival.
Today, though, my head feels like it’s been stuffed with papier–mâché, my thought processes aren’t what they normally are, although that is a very low bar. I’m aching just about everywhere around my arms and shoulders and clearly these jabs are very bad for you. Just kidding. A couple of hours of feeling a little rubbish is far better than getting knocked for six by Covid or the flu. I had the former earlier this year which wasn’t too bad but when I had flu I would have willingly accepted death as a more pleasant alternative.
Conspiracy loons would be correct in saying that I have been jabbed with stuff I don’t understand but that rather misses the point. Both vaccines were put together by actual experts who do know what’s in them and if they say they are safe, then they’re safe. In other words, this current feeling of slight shitness is worth it in the long term.
