I thought you’d like to see an example of the fake news doing the rounds on social media at the moment. Unfortunately, I’ve seen it reposted by numerous people in recent weeks and it is important to point out that it’s a pack of lies.
When I first read it, I thought, well, no one could possibly believe this nonsense. But clearly some people do.
In defence of people who repeat lies, which were almost certainly invented by right wing shit stirrers, there may well be some senior citizens – or ‘British Old Aged Pensioners’ as they are described here – who have no occupational pension and haven’t claimed the Pension Credit who won’t have more than £6k a year to live on. They can claim stuff to make that better. But no illegal immigrant trousers £29k. Illegal immigrants get literally nothing from the state. How could they? No one knows they’re here. Refugees get buttons, absolute buttons. And let’s not forget what a refugee is. Not some scrounger on the make.
These lies are created to cause dissent and disharmony. For some people, they work.
