The only certainty in hot weather is people virtue signalling on social media about dogs. You must have seen them. They go along the lines of, “Don’t make your dog walk on hot pavements” and “don’t leave your dogs in hot cars because they die”. I immediately dismiss such comments on the grounds that I don’t have a dog. I do have a cat though and I always instruct him to avoid hot places. He just looks at me as if to say, “Do you think I don’t already fucking know that?Twat.”
I can only assume people who post rather obvious advice about their pets regard their Facebook friends as idiots who are too stupid to protect their animals unless someone says so on social media. Do their friends have eureka moment and gasp: “Blimey: I never knew that about my dogs. No wonder it gets all delirious when I leave it in the car when I do the weekly shop in Asda. Thanks for letting me know.” Has this ever happened?
You do learn stuff on social media, such as which pubs to avoid and reminders that selfies never look as good to others as they do to yourself. I think I have posted two selfies in my Facebook life and instantly took them down because I looked like I was in an advanced state of Bell’s Palsy. But sanctimonious “I treat my animals far better than you do” doesn’t cut it for me.
