The video of a tearful critical care nurse called Dawn, close to the end of her tether, after coming off a shift and finding empty shelves in supermarkets has gone viral, rather like the country has. It’s very upsetting, too, because here is a critical care nurse near the foot of the food chain. Literally.
The inglorious irony here is that she will probably end up helping to treat many of the panic-stricken idiots who are driving her to distraction. Doubtless, her own immune system will suffer and decline because of working a huge amount of hours, aligned with a poorer diet courtesy of the greed of others.
In local communities, people are coming together to look after each other. Clearly, some people, haven’t got the message and are locked in a panic-stricken bubble, oblivious to the needs of others or, worse still, simply not giving a toss.
For once, we are all in it together. Have a good look at yourselves and think of Dawn as the woman who could be keeping you alive if you get very unlucky. All the bog rolls in the land won’t be enough to save you, then.
